Tuesday 11th September 2012 – 25th meeting of 2012
Today was our first full meet-up after the long summer break. Still not a full complement of our ladies as a couple were still busy with ‘Nanny duties’ and holidays but it was great to meet-up and hear all the news of the last weeks. Also good to see our friend back to walking after her operation.
There was no plan, as such, for a walk or visit, so we meet at Charing Cross and made our way to our favourite cafe at the crypt in St Martin’s-in-the-Fields church. This is always a busy vibrate place. We purchased our goodies found a table and got down to the business of the day – chatter, chatter, chatter! Everyone had had a good summer with holidays, family visits, days out and shopping. Great to catch up and find out all the news of friends and family.
We started to plan the next weeks on the lead up to Christmas and managed to fill most weeks but as we know from previous plans, they are always up for being changed! Things on the horizon are, a ride on the Duck, Lord’s Cricket Ground, London walks to name a few and of course Christmas Lunch! They are also a couple of birthdays to look forward to.
We started our group in September 2008 so have completed four years of walking together. Starting now September 2012 we are in our fifth year which is quite amazing as we started this idea as an alternative to ‘Walking London’s History’ with Bromley Adult Education which was becoming repetitive and expensive. It has been a very successful idea. We all enjoy the freedom, flexibility and friendship that is gives us.
Good to be back to our Tuesday meets and we all look forward to our weekly get-togethers.
