Tuesday 6th May – 11th May – 15th meeting of 2014
When we met this week it was for something of a very different nature. We had booked a six-day coach break with Lochs and Glens to Scotland and there was also another big difference – the husbands joined us!!
We left around 6 o’clock in the morning and made the long journey to Loch Tummel in Perthshire. With about three stops on the way (one of which was in Gretna Green) we arrived in time for 7.30 pm dinner.
The week was superb with an excursion every day. The tour was called ‘Castles and Gardens’ and as many of our group and husbands are keen gardeners it suited us very well. Places we visited were Drummond Gardens, Blair Castle and Gardens, Branklen Gardens, Falkland Palace and Gardens and also a visit to the city of Perth. The colours in the gardens were wonderful. Each garden had its own special features and they were all very varied.
We were very fortunate to have good weather which was quite sunny and warm with only one day of showers. So the myth that it always rains in Scotland we proved wrong and by all accounts the weather in London was wet and windy all the time we were away! The scenery in Scotland was beautiful and we could all view it perfectly from the coach. It is amazing at how many different shades of green can be seen in such a short distance.
