Tuesday 9th December – 39th meeting of 2014
Today was our last meeting of 2014 and we were booked in for Christmas Lunch at Coombe Lodge Restaurant, Shirley.
One of our ladies had invited us to her house for coffee and mince pies before we went which was very nice. We met at 11 o’clock and enjoyed her hospitality. We spoke of all the events of the year. Two babies have been born and one lady has become a Grandmother for the first time which is really exciting. We have had many pleasurable Tuesdays out and all enjoyed a fabulous week in Scotland.
We went to Coombe Lodge Restaurant in Shirley and with the library room booked in advance went straight in and was seated. To start with we sorted out our next meeting date and then with a really nice waiter to look after us we started on the Christmas Menu!
We always do a ‘Secret Santa’ present which has two rules spend up to £5 but no more and it must be silly, funny or useless. Numbers for the present were given out and throughout lunch we one by one opened them. This is always good fun and my present was Santa socks and Santa bubble hat which plays ‘Jingle bells’ when you press his nose! How silly is that! The other gifts were just as amusing!
The food was very nice and we had a great time. We made our ways home in bitterly cold weather after a great Christmas lunch. We will meet again in January 2015 ready for another great year!
