Tuesday 6th December – 44th meeting of 2016
Today our annual Christmas Lunch! We all met at Coombe Lodge restaurant Croydon at 12 o’clock where we had a table booked for 1 o’clock.
We had a coffee in the conservatory and exchanged Christmas cards. Unfortunately one of our ladies was not well so we were down to eight. We went into the restaurant to a room called The Library which we had booked. This is the perfect table for us as it is in a room off of the main restaurant which means voice was not an issue!
We made our choices of food and interesting none of us choose the festive menu! With wine ordered we started by a toast for a Merry Christmas.
In between the courses we did our Secret Santa presents. This has become a tradition of our Christmas now and something we enjoy and look forward to. The task is to buy a present that would be suitable for anyone, spend no more than £5 and it must be something that is funny, stupid, useless or rubbish. Some of the items this year included back scratcher, ornamental owl, dog door stop, cup and saucer set, gloves but the piece de resistance was a drinking hat which covered all requirements, funny, stupid, useless and complete rubbish. It really made us all laugh so much. Great fun but I’m not sure if the lady that got it will, in her wildest dreams, be able to use it! She did try it at the meal and it did work which was rather surprising!
We all enjoyed our meal and after coffee headed off home after a really lovely Christmas Lunch which I’m sure was the first of many to come!
